Dear FIR Country Members,<\/p>\n
We recently got news that this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s World Championships venue ( for Teams and Singles in November) has been taken over by a new management company.<\/p>\n
Despite my efforts and many meetings, the new management have decided not to honour the existing agreement that was finalised and agreed for the world championships.<\/p>\n
They have instead presented a completely new proposal for the event which includes so many new costs and conditions that holding the world championships there will now be hugely difficult\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and potentially impossible.<\/p>\n
I have taken legal advice about the fact that the new company is not willing to honour our original agreement but I have also began the process to look for alternative venues to hold the world championships. In order to minimise the disruption I am currently speaking with 3 different venues across central Germany about the possibility of moving the world championships.<\/p>\n
I am obviously aware that this is not a good situation for players who have planned their travel to come to Braunschweig, so I need the help of all the national federations to please urgently contact your players to let them know these very important messages:<\/p>\n
If you have not yet booked your flights\/travel to the World Championships in November, please do not book your flights\/travel until the FIR release an update on the venue. We hope to be able to do this within the next 2 weeks.
\nAny advanced bookings at the tournament hotel in Braunschweig can be cancelled at no cost up to a week before the event \u00e2\u20ac\u201c so this is not a problem.
\nAll those who have already booked flights\/travel to Hanover should not worry because if the world championships venue does change then we will put in place all the necessary arrangements for these players.<\/p>\n
Please also feel free to forward your players this whole email so they understand the full situation.
\nI am working very hard and am very busy trying to resolve this situation. I understand that this will be a concern to many players but with over 5 months until the world championships I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m confident we will find a good solution. Although it would be appreciated if players could wait until the official FIR update (within 2 weeks) when the whole situation will become much clearer.<\/p>\n
